The report ‘Security in Retail in Italy, 2023: a study on losses, thefts and security measures‘ has been published today. It is the result of a study carried out by Crime&tech, with the support of Checkpoint Systems Italia and in collaboration with the Associazione Laboratorio per la Sicurezza, on shrinkage and security in the retail and wholesale sectors.

The data presented in the report was collected through an online questionnaire distributed to a sample of security managers from 40 business groups in the retail and large-scale distribution sector, covering more than 10,300 points of sale. We analysed information on more than 130,000 individual criminal incidents recorded in points of sale throughout Italy between 2021 and the first nine months of 2023.

The study follows previous analyses carried out by Crime&tech at national level (Security in Retail in Italy, 2017 and Security in Retail in Italy, 2021) and at European level (Retail Security in Europe – Going beyond shrinkage, 2019), in collaboration with Checkpoint Systems.

The study was presented today, 07 November, during the webinar ‘Security in Retail in Italy, 2023’.
